Surprise Wicket Demand In 3rd Test Match By India. After losing the first two matches of the series against New Zealand, Team India is keen to make a comeback when the two teams square off in the third and final match at Wankhede. Earlier, a report suggested that a more sporting track has been prepared at Wankhede, which isn’t likely to offer as much assistance to spinners as the Pune pitch did. The Indian team has asked the pitch curator to prepare a ‘rank turner’ at Wankhede for the third Test on November 1.
According to a report in the Indian Express, the Indian team management isn’t happy with the nature of the Wankhede pitch. Request the pitch curator to ensure spinners receive assistance from the opening day in the match.
“It will be a rank-turner pitch. The team management has requested that a pitch be prepared to help spinners from day 1. It seems the team wants to go on a tried and tested formula,” the paper quoted a source as saying.
Mitchell Santner of New Zealand tore through Rohit Sharma & Co.’s defense, making India’s plea for a rank-turner in Mumbai unexpected. Santner claimed 13 wickets, leading the series after the second game.
Team India’s World Test Championship final chances hinge on their performance in the Mumbai Test. India’s WTC final hopes were damaged by two losses to the Kiwis, leading to a forthcoming five-match series in Australia.
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were disappointed, while Washington Sundar excelled at MCA stadium in Pune.
Watching the pitch provided to both sides before the third Test in two days will be intriguing.
